Caffeine strips for jiu-jitsu: what to check before you buy
A caffeine strip is a small oral strip that dissolves on your tongue. It can be convenient when you want a measured amount of caffeine without mixing a drink. Before choosing one for your jiu-jitsu bag, check the amount per strip, the full ingredients and how the format fits your routine.
Start with the amount, not the size of the strip
A small strip still contains caffeine. Check the amount per serving and count the caffeine in your coffee, tea, energy drinks or other supplements, too. A portable format does not make caffeine suitable for everyone, and it does not promise an immediate effect.
One NRGStripz cranberry strip contains 50 mg caffeine, 30 mg L-theanine and 1,000 mcg vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin. The serving size is one strip (290 mg). Each tin holds 30 individually wrapped strips.
What changes when caffeine comes in a strip?
The main practical difference is preparation. NRGStripz dissolves on your tongue, so there is no powder to measure and no drink to mix. It fits alongside your other training-bag essentials. It does not replace drinking water or make up for missed sleep.
Compare the label on each product rather than assuming that a strip, a coffee and a scoop contain the same amount of caffeine. The format alone is not evidence that one product works faster or better.
For work-to-class evenings
Think about when you train and when you plan to sleep. If caffeine is already part of your routine, a measured strip is one format to consider. Follow the label, account for your other caffeine and make the decision before you are rushing out the door.
For a tournament bag
Pack the equipment your event requires, water, your usual food and any familiar products you choose to use. An uncertain match time is a reason to plan; it is not a reason to keep adding caffeine. Check the current rules for your event and avoid experimenting with an unfamiliar routine on competition day.
Keep individually wrapped strips sealed until use and store the tin as directed on the label. Portability is the benefit here. We do not make weight-cutting or instant-performance promises.
NRGStripz and BASE have different roles
NRGStripz is a caffeine-containing strip. BASE / 01 is a lemon-flavored daily creatine and electrolyte mix with no added caffeine. One 10 g scoop contains 5 g creatine monohydrate, 1,000 mg sodium, 200 mg potassium and 60 mg magnesium. Mix one scoop with 6–8 oz of water daily, following the label. BASE is a daily routine, not an immediate rescue for an exhausting class.
